Gold funding and operating partner · Across SADC

Gold assets with potential. Capital and know-how to unlock them.

MMS Ventures is the venture arm of the team behind Metal Management Solutions (MMS), where we have spent years helping mining operations run better through technology, data, on-the-ground services and advisory work. Backed by a funding partner with an appetite for gold, we bring capital, technical expertise and operational support to existing assets, from modular processing plants to medium-scale operations. The goal is simple: unlock value for the owners and build an operation that works commercially for everyone involved.

Who we are

Built on years of making mines run better

Before MMS Ventures, our team built Metal Management Solutions to optimise mining operations. We know what makes a plant underperform, where gold goes missing, and what it takes to keep a remote site supplied and reporting honestly. Now we put that experience, and capital, behind gold assets directly.

What we bring from MMS

  • Technology and production data
  • Metal accounting and controls
  • On-the-ground operating services
  • Technical and commercial advisory
  • Plant optimisation and recovery work
  • Regional supplier and logistics network

A funding partner with an appetite for gold

We have partnered with a funder interested in gold opportunities from modular processing plants through to medium-scale operations. Capital is committed in stages after due diligence and released against verified milestones, so owners get a partner who can actually follow through.

About our funding partner

What we look for

Assets with a head start, held back by a gap we can close

We focus on gold opportunities where the ground, the plant or the licence already exists, and capital, processing or operating support is what is missing. You don’t need a finished data room to start the conversation.

A

Brownfield and dormant sites

Previously operating mines or advanced projects with workings, records or technical data, and a realistic route to restart or expand.

B

Tailings retreatment

Tailings dams and historical dumps with evidence of residual gold that modern processing could recover economically, subject to sampling and testwork.

C

Added processing capacity

Existing plants that are short of capacity, need an upgraded circuit, or could treat more ore with the right equipment and working capital.

D

Mining rights for offtake and revenue share

Licence holders who want to keep their rights while MMS funds and runs production under an agreed offtake and revenue-sharing arrangement.

E

Modular to medium-scale operations

Producing small-scale sites ready to formalise and grow, and larger projects with the evidence to justify staged investment.

Why now: at today’s gold price, owners have a real window to monetise assets that have sat idle or underperformed. The minimum to start is a credible starting point, clear ownership or access rights, and enough information for an initial assessment. See the full criteria

How we structure deals

Flexible structures that keep owners in the upside

We fit the structure to the asset and the owner’s goals. Most partnerships use one of these models, or a combination.

01

Offtake and revenue sharing

The owner keeps the mining right. We fund, build and operate the processing, and revenue is shared on a formula agreed up front.

02

Joint venture

Shared ownership of a project company, with capital, operating roles and decision rights set out before work begins.

03

Earn-in

We earn an interest in the project by funding defined work programmes and hitting agreed milestones.

04

Ring-fenced project company

Each site sits in its own special-purpose vehicle, with funding released in tranches against verified operating milestones.

05

Processing partnerships

Adding capacity to an existing plant, or treating ore from licensed local miners under a toll or supply agreement.

06

Acquisition

Where an owner wants to exit, a direct acquisition of the asset or the company that holds it.

The order of payment is agreed before any money moves: operating costs first, then capital recovery, then the agreed profit shares.

Value for every stakeholder

A gold operation only lasts if it works for everyone around it

Our aim is to create value for every stakeholder and get gold produced as soon as possible. That means being clear, from the first conversation, about what each party puts in and gets out.

Owners and licence holders

Unlock value without giving up the asset

Capital, plant and expertise you don’t have in-house, a share of the upside, and transparent production reporting.

Host communities

Jobs, local business and a share of success

Local hiring and procurement, engagement with traditional authorities before mobilisation, and community upside once capital is recovered.

Governments and regulators

Formal, auditable production

Licensed operations, gold sold through authorised channels, royalties and taxes paid, and metal accounting that stands up to audit.

Local miners and operators

A safer, formal route to market

Transparent payment for ore delivered, better recovery, and work alongside MMS on site with training and reliable equipment.

Introducers

Recognition for opening doors

Registration, a protection period and fees tied to real outcomes for people who bring us the right sites.

Capital partners

Discipline and visibility

Ring-fenced projects, milestone-based funding, independent technical sign-off and live production data.

How we work with each stakeholder

How it works

From first conversation to first gold

Each stage has to clear before the next one starts. A project can stop at any stage if the evidence doesn’t support going further, which protects owners as much as it protects us.

  1. Stage 1

    Introduce

You share the site: location, rights, ore and current status. We sign a mutual NDA.

  2. Stage 2

    Screen

Scale, grades, processing economics and legal standing.

  3. Stage 3

    Validate

Geology and metallurgy review, then a site inspection.

  4. Stage 4

    Structure

Agree the model, responsibilities, economics and funding tranches.

  5. Stage 5

    Mobilise

Funding, plant, people, consumables and logistics, subject to approvals.

  6. Stage 6

    Operate and grow

Track results against plan, and expand only when results justify it.

We aim to reply to every submission in under a week, and to complete screening, technical review and a site visit within about three weeks of receiving data. How we evaluate a site

Common questions

Short answers for site owners, introducers, operators and investors.

Who is behind MMS Ventures?

MMS Ventures is the venture arm of the team behind Metal Management Solutions (MMS). Our background is in helping optimise mining operations through technology, data, on-the-ground services and advisory work. We are based in Cape Town and work across SADC.

Do you have funding in place?

Yes. We work with a funding partner that has an appetite for gold opportunities ranging from modular processing plants to medium-scale operations. Capital is committed in stages after due diligence and released against verified milestones, never before.

What kinds of gold opportunities are you looking for?

Brownfield and dormant sites, tailings retreatment, existing plants that need more processing capacity, and mining rights where we can structure an offtake and revenue-sharing arrangement. We also consider producing small-scale sites ready to grow.

Do I have to sell my asset?

No. Many of our structures, including offtake and revenue sharing, joint ventures and earn-ins, keep the owner in the asset and in the upside. We acquire outright only where the owner wants to exit.

Do I need a full technical data room before contacting you?

No. We need a credible starting point, clear ownership or access rights, and enough information for an initial assessment. Tell us what you have and mark what isn’t available yet.

Does submitting a site mean you will fund it?

No. A submission starts an initial screen. Funding is only considered after due diligence, and every stage has its own go or no-go decision.

Which countries do you work in?

We look across SADC, with current activity in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania and the DRC. We consider other opportunities in the region case by case.

How are introducers rewarded?

Through terms agreed when we accept an opportunity, covering registration, a protection period and fees tied to real outcomes. The originators page sets out the principles.
