Brownfield sites
Mines and projects that have operated or been explored before, with workings, data and infrastructure to build on.
We are the team behind Metal Management Solutions, now investing directly in gold. Backed by a funding partner, we look for assets across SADC where capital, technical expertise and operational support can unlock value for the existing owners and create a commercially viable operation.
Our story
Metal Management Solutions (MMS) was built to help mining operations perform better. Working across plants and sites, we saw the same pattern again and again: good gold assets held back not by geology, but by missing capital, outdated processing, weak controls or a lack of on-the-ground support. MMS Ventures exists to close those gaps directly.
Production dashboards, metal accounting and reporting that show what a plant is really recovering, and where gold and money leak away.
Practical operating support on site: plant optimisation, maintenance, supply and logistics in remote locations.
Technical and commercial advice to owners and operators on processing routes, recovery, costs and how to structure a sustainable operation.
Our funding partner
We have partnered with a funder with an appetite for gold opportunities ranging from modular processing plants through to medium-scale operations.
Funding is committed in stages once due diligence is complete. Each project sits in its own ring-fenced company, and money is released in tranches as verified operating milestones are met. If a milestone is missed, the next tranche waits.
What we look for
With the current gold price, there are real opportunities for owners looking to monetise existing assets. These are the situations we are actively pursuing.
Mines and projects that have operated or been explored before, with workings, data and infrastructure to build on.
Residual gold in tailings dams and dumps that modern processing can recover, often with a short path to production.
Existing plants where added or upgraded capacity would lift throughput and recovery.
Licences where we can structure an offtake and revenue-sharing arrangement, so the holder stays in the upside.
Our stakeholders
A gold operation in Africa depends on many people beyond its owners. We set out each party’s role and rewards at the start, and report against them as the operation runs.
We bring the capital, processing, technical skills and operating support that are holding the asset back. Owners keep a meaningful stake through offtake, revenue-sharing, joint-venture or earn-in structures, and see the same production data we do.
We engage before mobilisation, hire and buy locally where we can, and run formal, monitored operations. Once capital is recovered, ongoing profit shares can pass to the wider community.
Every operation is licensed and permitted, gold is sold through authorised, licensed buyers, royalties and taxes are paid, and metal accounting creates an auditable record of what was produced and sold.
Transparent payment for ore delivered, safer processing and better recovery, plus work and training alongside the MMS team on site.
People who bring us suitable sites, or the contacts who own them, register the opportunity, receive a protection period and earn fees tied to real outcomes.
Ring-fenced project companies, an agreed payment order with operating costs and capital recovered before profits are shared, independent technical sign-off and live production reporting.
Governance
Our operating background shapes how we govern. The same controls apply whether the project is a modular plant or a medium-scale mine.
Whoever brings a deal to us never votes on it. Approval rests with a small technical committee, and larger commitments go to our funding partner. Due diligence and governance in detail
How we evaluate a site
Once we have signed a mutual NDA and received access to your data, we work through six steps. Our aim is to complete the first three within about 14 business days, and to reach an investment decision within two months.
Asset scale, historical grades, processing economics and legal standing.
Drill and sampling data, resource confidence, flowsheet and recovery testwork.
Access, power, water, logistics and the condition of existing assets.
Mineral titles, environmental licences and regulatory approvals verified.
Unit economics, margins, deal structure and funding tranches.
Final sign-off, definitive agreements and release of first-phase capital.
Timelines depend on the quality of information available and on site access. We will tell you early if an opportunity isn’t a fit.
Talk to us
If you own a gold asset, know the right people on the ground who can open doors to suitable sites, or have an appetite to explore something together, we would be keen to talk.
Share what you have. We aim to reply in under a week.
